ZEP TICKETS GO FOR £83,000

A Led Zeppelin fan has forked out £83,000 for two tickets to their eagerly awaited reunion concert, as part of an auction for Children in Need.

Kenneth Donell, a listener to BBC Radio 2's Terry Wogan breakfast show, paid for the chance to watch the legendary band rehearse and perform at London's O2 Arena on December 10th.

The reunion show - which sees Led Zeppelin's three remaining members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul on stage together for the first time since 1988 - is part of a tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun, the late founder of Atlantic Records.

Pete Townshend, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini are also set to play at the gig, which had to be rescheduled after guitarist Page broke his finger after a fall in his garden.

Tickets for the concert went on sale at £125 in October, with around 20 million fans surging to enter the ballot.

But the huge sum paid by Mr Donell wasn't the largest bid placed during Radio 2's Auction of Things That Money Can't Buy.

Sir Tom Hunter splashed out £100,000 for two VIP passes to the 2008 formula one Santander British grand prix at Silverstone.

And Martin Ainscough from Wigan bid an amazing £250,000 to have Aled Jones and Katie Melua perform an intimate show at Revolution in Manchester, with the proceeds going to the Prince's Trust.
