YORKE HONOURS WAR VETERAN

RADIOHEAD frontman THOM YORKE was so overwhelmed after hearing a World War I veteran speaking about his time on the frontline, he penned a song for him.
Yorke heard Harry Patch, the last survivor from the war, talking about his experiences on U.K. radio back in 2005 - and his words left a lasting impression on the singer.
The star penned Harry Patch (In Memory Of) in honour of the veteran, and recorded it with bandmate Jonny Greenwood just days before Patch's death last month (Jul09).
Yorke says, "I had heard a very emotional interview with him a few years ago on the Today program on BBC Radio 4.
"The way he talked about war had a profound effect on me. It became the inspiration for a song that we happened to record a few weeks before his death. I very much hope the song does justice to his memory as the last survivor."
All proceeds from the track will go to the Royal British Legion charity.
