YAYO'S WITNESS 'CAN CLEAR HIM' IN TEEN SLAPPING CASE
LATEST: Rapper TONY YAYO insists he has a witness who can prove he didn't assault the teenage son of a rival in court on Thursday (06Sep07).
The G-Unit member, real name Marvin Bernard, has been accused of smacking 14-year-old James Rosemond - son of Jimmy 'Henchman' Rosemond, head of rival hip-hop company Czar Entertainment - in a New York City street in March (07).
Bernard appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday, where his lawyer Scott Leemon announced he had provided the District Attorney's office with an affidavit from a witness, who insists the rapper was not responsible for the attack on the boy.
Leemon tells AllHipHop.com, "He stated (in the affidavit) that he saw the entire thing and (that) Yayo was not the person who slapped the kid.
"The witness clearly vindicates my client."
Judge Neil E. Ross said police had not interviewed the witness in question, but ordered cops to contact him as soon as possible.
Bernard is set to return to court on 30 October (07).
