X-FILES' TITLE IS NO LONGER AN X
The title is finally out there. The new X-Files movie will be called The
X-Files: I Want to Believe. The announcement was made by the series' creator,
Chris Carter -- who is also the movie's director -- in an interview Wednesday with
the Associated Press. The title comes from a slogan that appeared on a poster hanging
in the office of Fox Mulder, played by David Duchovny, in the TV series. "It's a
natural title," Carter told AP. "It's a story that involves the difficulties in mediating
faith and science. 'I Want to Believe.' It really does suggest Mulder's struggle with
his faith." The film, which is scheduled to premiere on July 25, represents the return
of a valuable franchise that ended its run on television six years ago. It is the
second movie based on the series. The first was released in 1998.
