WYCLEF RISKED HIS LIFE TO MAKE GANG DOCUMENTARY
WYCLEF JEAN feared he'd be killed while making hard-hitting gang documentary GHOSTS OF CITE SOLEIL in his native Haiti after learning he was a wanted man. Gang leaders disapproved of the former Fugees star's 2006 expose on the mean streets of Port-Au-Prince - and some wanted him shot dead. The singer/songwriter says, "I thought I'd die before that documentary was finished. "One time I was going to see a gang leader, and they'd told him to shoot me on sight. "He said, 'Boss, these people have given me the authority to shoot you. What do you want me to do?' "I said, 'Tell them I come in peace. I'm not Martin Luther King of Gandhi, and if I have to, I'll rise like Che Guevara.'"
