WOODY HARRELSON ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING PHOTOGRAPHER

Actor Woody Harrelson has likened the paparazzi to zombies after being accused of assaulting a photographer at a New York airport.

The Cheers star is alleged to have pushed a cameraman from celebrity gossip site TMZ.com, though no charges have been brought by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police.

"There was a complaint filed alleging that Mr Harrelson pushed a video camera into an individual's face and also damaged the camera," said spokesman Ron Marsico said. "We are looking into it."

Harrelson, 47, has since released a statement comparing the attention of photographers to the experience of being surrounded by the undead in his new film.

"I wrapped a movie called Zombieland, in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character," Harrelson said on Friday.

"With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie."

TMZ.com has posted a video of the incident which appears to show the No Country for Old Men actor pushing the photographer at LaGuardia Airport, who complains of being assaulted.

This is not Harrelson's first run-in with TMZ.com paparazzi, with the actor accused of a assault in Los Angeles in 2006, though no charges were filed.
