WOODRUFF TO RETURN TO WORK SOON
The ABC News blog, The World Newser, has posted a letter sent by former anchor Bob Woodruff's wife Lee in which she said that her husband is "planning to be back at work more regularly in the fall." Woodruff, the former World News Tonight co-anchor, suffered severe head and brain injuries last January when a roadside bomb exploded while he was reporting from Baghdad. In her letter, Lee Woodruff also wrote: "I think if you haven't seen Bob, you would be amazed. His hair has grown in; he has been playing some killer tennis, driving the boat for the kids to tube, doing some Pilates with my sister and playing scrabble like a fiend. He looks and sounds so much more like himself each week." But a brain-injury victim posted this advice on the blog, "Lee and kids -- you have a new husband and a new Dad. Yes, he is still the same guy, but he is different, and he won't ever be 100-percent the same, because his wiring's different. That's just how the brain works. You (and we) all both mourn the loss of the parts of Bob which are gone, but you also now are charged with discovering and embracing these new parts."
