WOLVERINE NEEDS MORE BLOODSHED, SAYS ALEX ZANE

Television presenter Alex Zane has argued X-Men Origins: Wolverine would have benefited from a more violent script.

The comic book prequel has just been released and is expected to top the UK and US box offices as it reveals the troubled past of the mutant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

But speaking ahead of the start of the second series of his new film-themed programme Guest List, former XFM DJ Zane explained he would have enjoyed the Gavin Hood film more if it had reflected the brutality of the Marvel character.

"I think it would have been better with a little more bloodshed," Zane told inthenews.co.uk.

"The original script called for it to an R-rated movie and Hugh Jackman obviously produced it so, as far as I've heard, he felt it should be a PG-13 as a lot of Wolverine fans are 13 years old.

"A lot of kids saw the X-Men movies and loved them. So while you and I would sit there going: 'Did you see him slice that guy's face off with the adamantium claws?? Wasn't that amazing and horrifying at the same time?!'

"But there'll be loads of kids who then have to go and see High School Musical 17 instead of Wolverine because it's R-rated, so I understand changing it."

* Alex Zane's Guest List on Sky Movies Premiere (channel 301) and available in HD on Sky Movies Premiere HD (channel 313) every Thursday at 7:30pm
