WITCHES OF EASTWICK SET FOR TV

THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK is to be turned into a TV series in the U.S. - more than 20 years after it hit the big screen.
Bosses at Network ABC are developing the project, which is based on John Updike's novel about three women who turn to witchcraft after losing the men in their life.
In the 1987 movie, Jack Nicholson starred as the devil-like character who seduced the females, played by Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer.
It's the third attempt to take the story to the small screen, after unsuccessful pilots in 1992 and 2002.
The Witches of Eastwick was also turned into a musical by theatre impresario Sir Cameron MACkintosh. A new revival, starring former Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow, opens in Edinburgh, Scotland this month (Aug08).
