WINSLET WAS 'FLOORED' BY SECOND GOLDEN GLOBE WIN
Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet has described her success at last week's awards ceremony as one of the most shocking moments of her life.
The British thespian took the best supporting actress prize for The Reader before being named best actress for Revolutionary Road.
Speaking on GMTV ahead of the release of the latter - a suburban drama in which Winslet reunites with Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio - the 33-year-old admitted she was stunned to claim the best actress Golden Globe.
"I'm still getting over it. It was very overwhelming. I was so shocked because the thing is, you're not supposed to get two, why on earth would you?" she explained.
"So when they gave me the award for The Reader I thought, 'That's amazing, fantastic, I'm happy, I can leave now', and then when Cameron [Diaz] was opening that envelope she was looking towards our table and I was thinking, 'Cameron, you're looking in the wrong direction' - because all the other nominees were to her left.
"I just couldn't believe it, I thought, 'Oh no, Cameron that's an error', and then she said my name!"
She added: "I was honestly the most floored I've ever been in my life, honestly I was."
Winslet held off the challenge of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Scott Thomas and Angelina Jolie to win the best actress award and is a firm favourite to take the same title at the 2009 Oscars for her portrayal of frustrated housewife April Wheeler in Revolutionary Road.
