WINSLET IS EARLY GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER

British stars KATE WINSLET, TOM WILKINSON and SALLY HAWKINS are early winners at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood - picking up big prizes for their roles in THE READER, JOHN ADAMS and HAPPY-GO-LUCKY respectively.
Hollywood's biggest names turned out on a sun-kissed red carpet on Sunday (11Jan09) for the first major awards ceremony of a hotly-anticipated season.
Winslet picked up the first prize, the Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture award, after presenter Jennifer Lopez scolded a lively audience with the words, "Hello...! Mama's talking. Mama's talking."
An emotional Winslet dedicated her award to her director husband Sam Mendes, telling him from the stage, "I wouldn't have been able to do this without you. Sorry for being so mental."
Hawkins, honoured for her role in Happy Go Lucky, was overwhelmed to accept her Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical gong from presenter Johnny Depp and fought back tears to battle through her acceptance speech.
Other early winners include Bruce Springsteen for his song The Wrestler, written for pal Mickey Rourke's new movie of the same name; and Laura Dern for her role in TV movie Recount.
The list of winners so far is as follows:
Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama - Kate Winslet for The Reader.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical - Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky
Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television - Tom Wilkinson for John Adams
Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television - Laura Dern for Recount
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama - Gabriel Byrne for In Treatment
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama - Anna Paquin for True Blood
Best Animated Feature Film - Wall-E.
Best Original Song, Motion Picture - Bruce Springsteen for The Wrestler.
