WINEHOUSE'S DAD: 'AMY SELF-HARMS TO DEAL WITH DRUG PAIN'

AMY WINEHOUSE deliberately cuts herself to ease the pain of drug withdrawal, according to her father MITCH.
The Back to Black hitmaker has sparked concern on several occasions after appearing in public seemingly showing signs of self-abuse - mainly cuts on her arms.
And the superstar's dad has revealed that her jailed husband Blake Fielder-Civil believes self-harm eases the comedown from drugs.
Mitch says, "(The self-harm has) more to do with Blake (Fielder-Civil). He explained to me that when they're going into (drug) withdrawal, if they cut themselves, it takes away the pain."
Mitch also tells how his daughter, who is currently recording songs for a new album, uses these dark times to find inspiration for new tracks.
He adds, "She only writes songs from her personal experiences, and they're all more or less painful. It's a shame. But that's the way she is.
"Amy can be creative when most other people would be checking into a hospice. When she can hardly stand up she's got her books in front of her, scribbling away."
The singer, currently battling addictions to drink and drugs, has suffered a string of health problems, including a bout of infectious skin condition impetigo and traces of deadly lung disease emphysema.
