WINEHOUSE IN HOSPITAL

British neo-soul singer Amy Winehouse has been discharged from a London hospital after undergoing treatment for "severe exhaustion".

The Rehab singer also called off her scheduled performance at the Oya music festival in Norway due to her ill-health.

A spokesman for her record company Island said: "Amy Winehouse was admitted to University College Hospital this morning suffering from severe exhaustion.

"Amy was discharged from the hospital this afternoon and has been advised to take complete rest.

Scheduled performances in Norway and Denmark this week have been cancelled," he added.

Organisers of the Oslo music festival said that Winehouse had given no reason for the cancellation.

"The news of the cancellation came abruptly and surprisingly upon us a little before one o'clock this afternoon," they claimed.

"Winehouse's large crew arrived yesterday, and her backing band had just finished their sound check when we were notified. So far no reason has been stated," organisers added.

Winehouse, 23, was nominated for three MTV video music awards yesterday and her album Back to Black has achieved great success in the US and the UK.

The heavily tattooed music star has admitted to having a drink problem and to using drugs. She has previously cancelled performances at T in the Park and the Liverpool Summer Pops.
