WINDSOR DENIES RETIREMENT RUMOUR
Veteran British actress BARBARA WINDSOR has quashed rumours she is set to retire from showbusiness following her departure from her longrunning soap role.
The Carry On star announced on Wednesday (28Oct09) she will be leaving hit BBC show EastEnders in 2010 after 15 years, so she can spend more time with her younger husband, Scott Mitchell.
She says, "I'm looking forward to the future and I suppose when all's said and done, I should spend a bit more time with my old man as he's not getting any younger."
But the 72 year old, who is due to star in Tim Burton's forthcoming Alice In Wonderland movie alongside Johnny Depp, has been quick to dismiss gossip that she is giving up acting altogether.
Asked whether Windsor is retiring, her agent Barry Burnett tells Now magazine, "Oh no, absolutely not, can you imagine that? Anyone who knows Barbara knows what she's like."
