WILLIAMS' MUM WADES INTO 'ENGAGEMENT' CONFUSION
ROBBIE WILLIAMS' mother has waded into the debate surrounding his reported engagement - insisting the star has been planning a propsal for "a week".
The British pop star appeared to ask long term love Ayda Field to marry him during a guest slot on Australian radio station 2Day FM on Friday morning (27Nov09).
The singer maintained the engagement was real throughout the show, but a representative for the Angels hitmaker subsequently announced it was a joke, insisting the couple is "not engaged".
But Williams' mother Jan has now fuelled speculation the proposal was the real thing by telling British radio station BBC Radio 5 live her son told her about his plans to pop the question "a week ago".
She says, "I'm very excited. I'm really pleased. They've been together for nearly three years, so it's about time. I've always wanted a daughter-in-law."
And when asked about when a possible wedding could take place, she adds, "I don't think it will be that far in the not-too-distant future, but that's all I'm going to say on that."
