WHITMAN: 'I'M NOT DEAD'

Beloved country star SLIM WHITMAN has fired back at reports he died last month (Jan08), joking he knew he was alive because he's still singing. The 84-year-old singer was eulogised onstage during a concert by his pal George Hamilton IV after internet reports suggested Whitman had passed, and he was left stunned when the news got to him. Whitman tells America's the Globe, "I knew it was a lie. I can still sing. And if you're dead, you can't sing. "I'm happy to be alive. I don't feel anything like 84 years old... I don't even feel like an old man."
