WHITE STRIPES PERFORM TOGETHER AGAIN
THE WHITE STRIPES performed together for the first time since autumn 2007 over the weekend.
Jack and Meg reunited onstage to play on US talk show host CONAN O'BRIEN's final TV programme.
The duo played the track WE'RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS from their 2001 offering WHITE BLOOD CELLS, with Meg playing guitar and joining Jack on vocals during the acoustic version of the song.
"I wasn't sure this would happen," NME quotes O'Brien as saying when he introduced the group. "I'm personally very thrilled we could make it happen tonight. Please welcome our very good friends The White Stripes."
THE WHITE STRIPES cancelled US tour dates in September 2007 at the last minute when Meg was taken ill with "acute anxiety" and they later cancelled a UK tour for later that year.
At the time, Jack stated that they may never tour again.
THE WHITE STRIPES' releases include 2003's ELEPHANT and ICKY THUMP in 2007.
It is reported that they are working on an eighth album to be released this year.
