WHITE STRIPES ANNOUNCE LONDON SHOW

The White Stripes have announced a special one-off show at London's Rivoli Ballroom next week.

Jack and Meg White will be playing on Tuesday June 12th in one of London's last remaining ballrooms with original 1950s decor.

The band said the gig offered fans "a way to see Jack and Meg perform in a more intimate and incredible setting".

The south-east London venue is used to hosting meetings of small clubs and hobby fares and has a chandelier hanging from the centre of the room.

But the ballroom is set for an Icky Thump next week as the Stripes preview their new material to a few lucky fans.

The band's only other scheduled London show is on June 14th at the O2 Wireless festival, supported by Queens of the Stone Age and Modest Mouse.

Icky Thump, the first single to be lifted from the new album of the same name, is released on Monday.

The full album, which includes the tracks bone Broke, Catch Hell Blues and Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn, will be released on June 18th.

Tickets for the special show go on sale on Monday at 11:00 BST.
