WHITE BLAMES RACE FOR SHOW'S UNPOPULARITY
American actress PERSIA WHITE blames the colour of her skin on her TV show GIRLFRIENDS' failure to entice U.S. audiences. The 31-year-old star believes the programme is not as popular as Sex and the City because the characters are African American. She tells New York gossip column PageSix, "We always hoped it would get the same kind of credit that other shows like Sex in the City got. "But sadly enough, the fact that we're a female minority show, the press has been really, really hard on us. It has a lot to do with why we don't get much attention... the press has kept us segregated and kept us out of the mainstream."
