WHIBLEY GIVES UP SEARCH FOR FATHER

SUM 41 singer DERYCK WHIBLEY has accepted he'll never meet the father who left home before he was born. The Canadian rocker has written a song about his absentee parent, to acknowledge he has given up looking for him. He says, "I've never met my father before, he was gone before I was born. It wasn't something I'd talked about or written a song about in the past and people don't know those kind of things about me. "So writing a song about it - which is called 'Dear Father' - was me being totally honest and totally personal. I've never met my father, and I probably never will."

Hi, Deryck - Dilys here, your estranged aunt here, living in London, UK. Yes, I know all about searching for missing pieces of the puzzle, and there are many in our and my UK side of the family. I say go for it, search for your father, regardless of the outcome. Whatever happened in my Canadian side of the family is another story, and I was saddened not to have been invited to your wedding. I had to hear about it from colleagues at work, after the fact, and then see my, suposedly, dad (not sure about that these days)and Mary Whibley splashed in the mags while I was at the hairdressers. But Deryck, none of you know or knew what happened between those parents and me, perhaps you've heard dribs and drabs, but no one has ever heard my story. But I'm not bothered. I've just been informed that you are in London for a concert in Hammersmith, if you get this email, contact me on my mobile 07960 098987 or my work number 0207 782-3289. I'd love to meet up with you. I've been back hear for two years now. Perhaps the next time you're in town. Take care, Love Aunt Dilys
