WEITZMAN GETS STAMP HONOUR IN SPAIN
Shoemaker to the stars STUART WEITZMAN has landed a bizarre honour in Spain - his first Oscars Million Dollar Shoe features on a new postage stamp.
The sparkling design, which was worn by Mulholland Drive star Laura Harring at the 2002 Academy Awards, featured 464 Kwiat cut diamonds, set in platinum on a platinum mesh frame.
The stamp honour comes after Weitzman became the first non-Spaniard to receive the Favourite Adopted Son of Elda honour by dignitaries of the area, where the shoemaker's manufacturing headquarters is based.
The title has only been bestowed on four other people since the end of the Spanish Civil War, over 70 years ago.
The new Weitzman stamp features an image of Harring's shoe and the company's logo.
The proud shoemaker says, "I feel proud for our local shoe industry, that, perhaps its most recognised shoe has been memorialised on the commemorative stamp?"
