WEBSITE BOSS VOWS LEGAL ACTION OVER GIBSON PROBE

The boss of a celebrity website has threatened legal action after his phone records were obtained by cops investigating media leaks following MEL GIBSON's infamous drink-driving arrest.
Harvey Levin, owner of U.S. entertainment site TMZ.Com, slammed the L.A. police force for checking through his call records while they were trying to uncover who had tipped off the TMZ newsroom about anti-Semitic remarks Gibson made during the 2006 arrest.
The phone records showed two calls were made from arresting officer Sheriff's Deputy James Mee's home to TMZ on the day the Braveheart star was taken into custody. Investigators eventually declined to charge Mee for the alleged tip-off.
However, Levin is fuming his private records were dragged into the investigation - insisting cops broke federal laws.
During a speech at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on Monday (19Oct09), he said, "It breaks federal law. It breaks state law. It's outrageous. We've met with lawyers and are charting our course of action. This is not going to go away."
Following the arrest, Gibson was forced to attend a 12-step alcohol abuse program for 11 months, give up his driving license for 90 days and apologised to Jewish leaders for his comments.
He successfully won his bid to clean the drink driving charge from his record earlier this month (Oct09).
