WATSON 'RECOVERING WELL' AFTER BRAIN SURGERY
LATEST: British opera singer RUSSELL WATSON is on the road to recovery following an operation to remove a brain tumour. The 40-year-old star underwent brain surgery on Wednesday (25Oct07) and hospital officials insist he is doing well. Michael Stroud, of the Alexandra hospital in Cheshire, U.K., says, "He is talking for brief periods and has been eating small amounts of food. "Family members are with him. It is only 36 hours since his life was in danger so it is important for him and those around him to take things slowly." Watson fell ill during a recording session and an MRI scan showed a re-growth of a previous benign tumour, which was removed a year ago. The singer has been forced to cancel numerous engagements while he recovers including a performance before the American football match between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday (28Oct07). Mr Stroud adds that Watson's managers were 'overwhelmed by the amount of support and messages from friends and fans'.
