WATSON 'CONSCIOUS' AFTER OP
LATEST: British opera singer RUSSELL WATSON is now conscious in hospital after undergoing life-saving surgery. The tenor, 40, was admitted to a private hospital in Cheshire, England on Wednesday (24Oct07) and underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour on Thursday (25Oct07) morning. Watson's agent, Richard Thompson, confirmed a brain scan revealed a re-growth of a previous tumour. Watson is now recovering in intensive care. He says, "He is now conscious. We have got him back." The singer had an emergency operation to remove a benign brain tumour in September 2006. He recovered but was forced to cancel television appearances and postpone a U.K. tour.
