WASHINGTON GETS SERIOUS WITH HER CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Actress KERRY WASHINGTON hates Christmas commercialism and tries to pick gifts that really mean something to family and friends.
The RAY star's father turned her into a huge fan of the holidays but she hates getting caught up in the fuss surrounding Christmas.
She says, "I'm trying to take the focus off of the materialism in the holiday. I'm finding it to be a bit overwhelming, the commercialisation of Christmas.
"I think toys are OK but there's so much stuff. I'm really trying to give gifts that are focused on community service or even human-to-human contact like massages or astrology readings, things that involve people.
"I'm not into this constant consumer obsession with obtaining things."
