WAINWRIGHT EXPLAINS GARLAND OBSESSION
Singer/songwriter RUFUS WAINWRIGHT was inspired to recreate JUDY GARLAND's famous 1961 comeback concert at Manhattan's Carnegie Hall because they both "like gay men a lot".
Wainwright, who performed the show at the London Palladium on Sunday (18FEB07), has been obsessed with THE WIZARD OF OZ star since he was a boy and is pleased he has grown up to share some of her characteristics.
He says, "Me and Judy have got the same cheekbones and we both like gay men a lot.
"As a child I dressed up in an apron as DOROTHY on good days. On bad days I put on my mother's fine gowns and became the melting WICKED WITCH."
