WAINWRIGHT ADMITS TO FINANCIAL MESS

American singer RUFUS WAINWRIGHT is losing money from his latest world tour - because of the crippling cost of taking a 40-piece orchestra around with him. The 34-year-old has suffered severe financial losses from his flamboyant Release The Stars tour, which kicked off in the U.S. - complete with a full band - in April (07). However the son of notoriously unbusiness-minded folk legends Kate MCGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III does not seem too concerned. He says, "I'm taking a tremendous loss. Which is fine. Which is very old school. "It's my Ziggy Stardust tour! Thank God I have the ability to do solo shows afterwards and make up the difference." Wainwright is already planning his next costly musical venture - to write and stage an opera, Prima Donna, which he aims to complete in the next couple of years.
