VON TRIER FILM BOOED AT CANNES
Danish moviemaker LARS VON TRIER's new film ANTICHRIST was booed at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Sunday night (17May09) by critics who disliked what they saw.
The film stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a couple dealing with the death of their only child.
It became clear the movie was not being received well when audience members started laughing during bizarre scenes featuring a talking fox and sexual mutilation.
And the critics made sure Von Trier knew they were not fans as the credits rolled - they mocked and booed his efforts in the Debussy cinema.
Von Trier, who won the top prize at Cannes in 2000 with Dancer in the Dark, insists Antichrist was a very important film for him to make - because it was "kind of therapy" for the depression he battled in 2007.
