VINNIE JONES FOUND NOT GUILTY OF ASSAULT
Former footballer Vinnie Jones has been found not guilty of assaulting a man during a bar fight.
During the trial of the Lock Stock actor it was claimed Jones had hit Juan Trevino-Barrera three times in the head during the incident in South Dakota.
However, the 44-year-old Briton successfully argued he had been acting out of self-defence having earlier been struck in the face with a beer glass by one of Mr Trevino-Barrera's friends.
The incident took place on December 4th last year after Jones had travelled to Sioux Falls on a pheasant hunting trip with a group of friends.
During the trip the group had gone to Wiley's Tavern on a night out. Whilst in the bar an argument broke out leading to a man spitting on Jones and another hitting him in the face with a beer glass, it is alleged.
According to the Press Association the court heard that on his way to the toilets Jones once again encountered Mr Trevino-Barrera and convinced he was going to hit him with a glass in his hand, lunged out in self-defence.
The jury in the trial took just two hours to find Jones not guilty of all the charges brought against him.
