VILLAGE PEOPLE COP PLANS REHAB STINT AS HE AWAITS SENTENCING

LATEST: Disgraced former VILLAGE PEOPLE star VICTOR WILLIS is planning a stint in rehab after pleading no contest to drug possession charges. The YMCA hitmaker, who was the original policeman in the 1970s disco group, was arrested in San Francisco, California in March (06) after police found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his car. Willis, 54, was already in trouble with the law after failing to show up in court on another drug charge last year (05). A sentencing hearing is scheduled for later today (01SEP06), when a judge will decide whether Willis will serve prison time. Willis, who has been in custody since his arrest, plans to begin a 90-day treatment programme at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California upon his release.
