VILLAGE PEOPLE COP AVOIDS JAIL TIME

LATEST: Disgraced former VILLAGE PEOPLE star VICTOR WILLIS was sentenced to three years probation on drug and gun possession charges yesterday (05SEP06) by a California judge. The MACHO MAN singer, 55, pleaded no contest and was given a suspended three-year, eight-month prison sentence on the condition that he complete a 30-day drug treatment program at the Betty Ford Center in Southern California, followed by at least six months in a treatment program in Long Beach, California. The judge warned that Willis, the policeman in the 1970s group, would go to prison if he violated his probation. The former star was arrested in San Francisco, California in March (06) after police found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his car. He was already in trouble with authorities after failing to attend a court appearance on another drug charge last year (05). Willis was married to THE COSBY SHOW star PHYLICIA RASHAD from 1978-1980.
