VERBINSKI'S BIOSHOCK ON HOLD

GORE VERBINSKI's new movie has become the latest victim of the global economic crisis - movie bosses have halted BIOSHOCK amid a wave of reported redundancies and budget cuts.
The director was set to begin filming the picture - based on the bestselling videogame - in Los Angeles later this year (09).
But executives at Universal Pictures have put the project on hold and let members of the production team go after budget estimates soared to over $160 million (£110 million).
Verbinski is now looking for a new location for the movie in a bid to cut costs - and producers are eyeing London as a possible setting for the underwater action adventure.
He tells Variety, "We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the U.S. to take advantage of a tax credit. We are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern."
The film - rumoured to be starring Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller - was scheduled for release in 2010.
