VELVET REVOLVER STILL SINGER-LESS AFTER 16 MONTHS
VELVET REVOLVER are still searching for a lead singer, more than a year after previous frontman SCOTT WEILAND left the band.
A number of rockers have been linked with the role, made vacant after Weiland fell out with bandmates and returned to the Stone Temple Pilots, but guitarist Slash is holding out for the right candidate.
He tells RollingStone.com, “I haven’t heard any amazing submissions from singers as of late. Velvet when it finds the right guy will be amazing, but I’m in no rush. I’m not freaking out - because that’s how we got Scott in the first place. He was the first decent guy that came up.”
Slash refuses to slam Weiland, whose departure was blamed on his “increasingly erratic onstage behaviour and personal problems”, and insists there are no hard feelings, adding, “Scott to me is now like George Bush - y’know, I like him now that he’s not here."
