VELVET REVOLVER EXTEND HIATUS, STILL HAVE NO SINGER
Rock supergroup VELVET REVOLVER have extended their hiatus until next summer (10) as their search for a new frontman continues.
The band, led by former Guns N' Roses stars Slash and Duff MCKagan, have been auditioning singers since they fired Scott Weiland in April 2008 - but still haven't found the perfect fit.
And now guitarist Slash has decided to put the band on the backburner to concentrate on touring his solo album.
In a post on his MySpace.com blog, Slash writes, "My VR bandmates and I had a meeting a couple of weeks ago and although the search for a singer will continue, I am going to tour on my solo record most likely through next summer starting in March or April.
"We will keep the word of mouth system going and listening to submissions from singers and checking out different singers’ sites etc."
Online reports suggested Gord Prior, from Canadian-based band Blu Bones, had been plucked from virtual obscurity to join the rockers - beating competition from artists including Liv Tyler's ex-husband, Royston Langdon.
The band denied the reports.
