VEGA TAKES ON WORLD CUP

Singer SUZANNE VEGA fears no-one will watch her gig in London this afternoon (JUN06) - because she performs at the same time the England soccer team plays Portugal in the World Cup quarter-final. Vega will take to the stage at the Hyde Park Calling concert at 5.10 pm - midway through the crucial match in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. She says, "A little competition I guess. The world cup is on at 4pm to 6pm and I'm on at 5.10pm. I'll do the best I can. Every time I'm playing Europe the World Cup is on. It's a familiar story."
