VEDDER: 'COBAIN AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN FRIENDS'
PEARL JAM star EDDIE VEDDER is convinced he and rock rival KURT COBAIN would have become friends if the NIRVANA singer had lived.
Vedder will have the Smells Like Teen Spirit frontman in his thoughts as the 15th anniversary of Cobain's death comes around next month (Apr09) - even though the tragic rocker was one of his fiercest critics.
The Daughter singer reveals he and Cobain were well on their way to ending their war of words after meeting privately just before Cobain's death in 1994.
And now Vedder says, "If Kurt were around today, I know he'd say to me, 'Well, you turned out OK.'"
Cobain committed suicide at his home in Seattle, Washington on 8 April, 1994.
