VAUGHN STRUGGLES WITH FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Actor VINCE VAUGHN refrains from greeting fans in their native language whenever he travels to non-English speaking countries, because he never understands their responses.
The Wedding Crashers star admits he no longer goes out of his way to say hello to movie fans whenever he travels to countries like China, because he is always embarrassed when locals answer back using more complicated vocabulary.
Vaughn says, "I was in China and I went, 'Ni hao' (hello in Mandarin) to people and (my friend) was like, 'Why are you learning these words?' Because you go round saying, 'Hi, how are you?' to these people, they think you can have a conversation with them and then they respond to you and they're adding a lot of words from the language and you're like, I'm sorry, I don't speak the language!' Then they're like, 'Well why are you saying hi to me?!'"
