VAN OUTEN: 'I WAS A TEENAGE GREASE HOPEFUL'
British actress DENISE VAN OUTEN is convinced she's the perfect host for hit new US TV reality show YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT because she went through the audition process and failed to land a part in GREASE.
Van Outen and US TV personality BILLY BUSH host the new talent show, which aims to find the male and female leads, DANNY and SANDY, for an upcoming Grease revival on Broadway from thousands of unknowns, and she admits her heart just bleeds for those who are sent home.
She says, "I actually auditioned for Grease, the London production, when I was 17 years old and I really, really wanted to play Sandy.
"I didn't get it, which is why I wanted to be involved in this show... because I've been through it, so I know exactly what they're going through.
"I cried for days when I didn't get the role, I was so upset. It meant so much to me."
