VAN HALEN SHOW TOO EXPENSIVE
Government officials in Canadian province Prince Edward Island have scrapped a planned VAN HALEN concert - because they can't afford to put it on.
The Charlottetown show was to have taken place this September (08), but rising costs that would be subsidised by the provincial government have left officials balking.
Tourism Minister Valerie Docherty tells CBCNews.ca that initial government investment in the event rapidly climbed from $1.6 million (GBP800,000) to $4 million (GBP2 million).
Docherty says, "It's not the best use of taxpayers' money."
Van Halen completed their initial reunion tour last month (Jun08).
