USHER FORCED TO SPEAK-UP ON STAGE
R+B star USHER had to dramatically change the way he spoke when he started rehearsing for the role of BILLY FLYNN in the Broadway musical CHICAGO because his voice was too soft. The star has a strong voice when it comes to belting out tunes, but delivering his lines on the New York City stage was a different story. Producers had to take the singer aside and tell him to speak up when other cast members drowned out what he was saying. He explains, "I got here and we started rehearsing and I was like, 'Wow, you people are screaming!' "But what it was is that they were just projecting, and I need to be able to do that. It's already gotten a lot better. "But you know I grew up real soft-spoken, and that ain't going to get the job done here!"
