US CINEMAGOERS OPT FOR FRIGHTENING FRIDAY THE 13TH
Horror remake Friday the 13th has debuted at the top of the US box office after its first weekend on release.
The Warner Bros/New Line film, a reimagining of the classic slasher film, achieved the best ever US opening for a horror movie, with $42.2 million (£29.6 million).
Last week's number one He's Just Not That Into You fell one place while new comedy Confessions of a Shopaholic entered the chart at number four.
Former Home and Away actress Isla Fisher stars in the Disney adaptation of Sophie Kinsella's bestselling book.
Vengeance film Taken fell one place to third while new Sony thriller The International - starring Clive Owen and Naomi Watts - opened in a disappointing seventh, though the studio is anticipating a strong European performance.
