UN SLAMS WINEHOUSE
Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss have been attacked by the United Nations (UN) for 'glamorising' the use of cocaine.
Winehouse has endured a torrid time of late with husband Blake Fielder-Civil in remand for allegedly attempting to pervert the course of justice ahead of a GBH case.
The Back to Black singer was subsequently booed by disappointed fans after giving a shambolic performance on the first night of her UK tour.
And now Antonio Costa, head of the UN's office on drugs and crime, has singled out the singer for 'glamorising' cocaine while warning of the dangers Britain faces from the drug.
Mr Costa said: "Look at Kate Moss who still receives lucrative contracts after she was photographed sniffing [cocaine]."
He added: "Rock stars, like Amy Winehouse, become popular by singing 'I ain't going to rehab' even though she badly needed, and eventually sought treatment.
"A sniff here and a sniff there in Europe are causing another disaster in Africa, to add to its poverty, its mass unemployment and its pandemics."
Winehouse eventually gave in and spent a short spell in rehab, after an alleged drug overdose in August, and Moss also sought professional help after being photographed apparently snorting cocaine in a recording studio in September 2005.
