TWEEDY BAFFLED BY LAWSUIT
WILCO frontman JEFF TWEEDY is baffled by former bandmate JAY BARRETT's unpaid royalties lawsuit against the group - insisting he owes nothing to his one-time pal.
Barrett, who performed on three Wilco albums before leaving the group in 2001, has filed suit against his former bandmates, claiming he is owed $50,000 (£33,330) in royalties from his time in Wilco, and from a documentary that charted his split from the band.
But Tweedy insists Barrett is targetting the wrong people.
He tells Paste magazine, "I know exactly as much as everyone else does (about this lawsuit). I've read the news and I honestly have no idea what these claims are based on. It was such a long time ago. Aside from everything else, I'm being sued for not paying someone for appearing in a movie I didn't produce. Go figure.
"I am truly sad it has come to this. I am equally convinced, however, that I have done nothing wrong and that this will be handled fairly and swiftly."
