"TV EVERYWHERE" IS NOWHERE TO SOME VIEWERS

The notion of "TV Everywhere," in which people would pay one monthly subscription price and be able to watch television at home, on their smartphones, on their computers, or on their game consoles, may be regarded by television producers and network executives as the solution to online piracy and a boon for advertisers, but a new study has disclosed that a lot of consumers are worried that it may leave them out in the cold. The survey, conducted by research firm Interpret LLC, found that many viewers, who now watch their favorite TV shows free on video websites, would have to pay a subscription fee if they were to continue watching via a "TV Everywhere" setup. Fifty-one percent of those people who dumped their cable or satellite provider for online viewing only said that they had done so in order to rid themselves of cable subscription charges. They are not likely to resume paying the charges if TV Everywhere should emerge. "This initiative may instead result in increased piracy among these consumers," the study concluded.
