TRUMPETER DRISCOLL SENTENCED TO A YEAR AND A DAY IN JAIL
Grammy Award winning trumpeter PHIL DRISCOLL was sentenced to serve a year and a day behind bars yesterday (25JAN06) on tax evasion charges.
Driscoll was convicted of conspiracy and tax evasion between 1996 and 1999 last June (06) at Chattanooga, Tennessee US District Court after he avoided reporting personal income.
Judge CURTIS L COLLIER gave Driscoll 45 days to report to prison. He will rule on Driscoll's request to be allowed to remain free while he appeals the case before that 12 March (07) deadline.
Driscoll has recorded with a host of stars including JOE COCKER, BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS and STEPHEN STILL.
