TOWNSHEND'S RANT AGAINST OLD ROCKERS
THE WHO legend PETE TOWNSHEND has slammed ageing rockers - including himself - for continuing to tour into their fifties and sixties. The MY GENERATION star, 61, has lashed out at BOB DYLAN and THE ROLLING STONES over their longevity as rock stars, insisting the novelty is simply in the fact that they are still going at all - and not because they are exciting to watch. He says, "I don't think the big bands are going to be able to do this for much longer. "I don't want to see Bob Dylan, I don't want to go out and see the Stones. I wouldn't pay money to go and see The Who, not even with new songs. "I wouldn't pay money to see CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH. They make me sick. When I say that, I mean I'm ageist about it. "Somebody gave me tickets for MARLENE DIETRICH's last concert in London. She looked fantastic under the lights, but you knew it was an 80-year-old woman held together with glue and string."

The Who still give great performances ,many teenagers still listen to their
music and they were probably the best act at live8 apart from U2 and Paul
McCartnety .Also,U2 have been in the music buisness for over 30 years and they
are at the moment probably the biggest band in the world.
the best bands around are the ones with the most experience
We saw both The Who and the Stones on their latest tours. Townsend is right, we
see them for the novelty. But the music that inspired us to buy their albums
decades ago still appeals to us and the ticket price to concerts is nothing
when compared to their longevity, which makes them all living legends. But the
'glue and string' thing, too FUNNY, and true...
