TOWNSEND DEFENDS RIOTS FILM AGAINST BIAS

Irish actor STUART TOWNSEND has hit back at critics who say his directorial debut, BATTLE IN SEATTLE, will be one-sided in its depiction of the anti-globalisation riots of 1999. The ABOUT ADAM star insists the documentary-style movie, starring his on-off girlfriend CHARLIZE THERON, will cover all viewpoints concerning the violent uprising. Townsend says the script will explore "the meaning and limits of democracy," adding, "The story interested me because the World Trade Organisation considers a lot of issues that were diffused somewhat by 9/11. "There's a lot of grey areas. It's not like the protestors are the heroes and the police are the villains. It's about the characters and how they are changed by the event."
