TOMKAT GET NEW FLAT IN NYC

TOM CRUISE and wife KATIE HOLMES have been given the green light to move into the legendary Dakota building in New York City, after passing the strict entry interviews.

The exclusive apartment building, which was the scene of former BEATLES legend JOHN LENNON's murder in 1980, has a very strict acceptance process, as the tenancy board don't let just anyone in.

In the past, rock star GENE SIMMONS, actors ANTONIO BANDERAS and MELANIE GRIFFITH and singer CARLY SIMON have all been turned down by the board, but it seems the multi-millionaire Cruise and his young wife have won the approval of those in power.

Built in the late 19th century, the Dakota building overlooks Central Park and is a much desired residence for the wealthy and famous living in New York. Although famous for being the home of Lennon and his wife YOKO ONO in the last years of the songwriter's life, as well as the scene of his murder on the steps of the building 27 years ago, the Dakota has several other famous residents.

These included actor BORIS KARLOFF, screen legend JUDY GARLAND and rock star BONO and wife ALI HEWSON.
