TOM JONES ACTING HIS AGE
Sir Tom Jones insists that, at the age of 68, he is now too old to perform his infamous raunchy stage routines.
Sir Tom Jones is too old for raunchy routines.
The legendary Welsh crooner insists he would look "silly" if he continued to gyrate on stage - but quashed speculation it is because age has stiffened his joints.
He said: "I am 68, I don't want to act like I'm 28. I don't want to be over the top. I still move but not to the extent I used to when I was young. It looks a bit silly like that. But I can move if I want to."
The 'It's Not Unusual' hitmaker also revealed he relies on a pre-stage ritual of sucking two liquorice sweets to keep his powerful voice in perfect condition.
He added to Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "They keep my mouth moist so my throat doesn't dry up."
Earlier today (26.05.09), it was announced that Tom - who recently unveiled plans for a UK arena tour later this year - is to join fellow veterans Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen in playing the world-famous Glastonbury music festival in Somerset in June.
