TIME FOR A BLACK BOND SAYS CRAIG

The time has come for a "coloured 007" James Bond actor Daniel Craig said at the Italian premiere of Quantum of Solace.

Speaking at a press conference for the film, Craig said: "After Barack Obama's victory I think we might have reached the moment for a coloured 007.

"I think the role is well suited to a coloured actor because the character created by (Bond author) Ian Fleming in the 1950's has gone through many changes."

Craig added: "However, I think that this eventuality would probably make Fleming turn in his grave."

The actor went on to praise Barack Obama for his victory and compared the historic win to sending a man to the moon.

Last month, Craig suggested Mr Obama would make a good Bond – certainly better than his opponent John McCain, who he said would be better suited as an M, played by Judi Dench in recent films.

Quantum of Solace is reportedly already breaking box office records, despite not having opened in the US or Australia, taking an estimated $38.6 million overseas in the weekend ending November 3rd.
